A LOOK INTO MY SPRING LIPSTICK ROUTINE
I have a confession to make. I’ve never been into lipsticks until now because I never felt like I could pull them off and every time I tried to purchase one I would get super overwhelmed and usually bought the wrong color for my skin tone. I recently re-organized my makeup drawer and got rid of a ton of lipsticks that I never wear and were just taking up space. I’ve been slowly branching out and trying new colors but my favorites to stick with especially for spring are nudes, pinks, and mauves.
These colors are a little more forgiving if you’re new to the lipstick world and haven’t figured out the whole lip liner thing. It’s also a great way to get used to wearing lipstick i.e. remembering to re-apply throughout the day and so on. I like to consider it the toe dip approach.
Here are the go-to and recently purchased shades I’m wearing for spring.
One of my favorite nude lipsticks is “Velvet Teddy” by M.A.C. It’s one of the perfect nude lip colors on the market in my opinion. Another favorite is “Popular” by Bare Minerals. This is more of a gloss with a slight pink undertone and it looks great on almost everyone.
I like to use pinks with nude undertones or a slightly mauve undertone. I’m not one to wear a bright Barbie pink. I just recently discovered “Cruising” by NARS. It’s very light and has a very light pink undertone. It’s a great daytime color if you’re going for a more natural look. For a matte look, I like “Exposed” by Tarte. If you are looking for a brighter pink they also have a color called “Orgasm” which was featured as part of their 2017 summer collection. For a slightly deeper shade of pink, I like “Patisserie” by M.A.C.
I’ve been loving mauve in everything lately, clothing, nail color, lipstick you name it! When it comes to lipstick, I like to go matte. My go-to’s are “Infamous” by Bare Minerals which I am wearing here and “Mauve Wife” by Smashbox.
