Hey there!

My name is Ashley Nicole and welcome to my blog!  Here is a little tidbit about me and the story of how Cottage-Bound came to be.

In 2009, I moved to Santa Rosa Beach, FL with my husband Jamie and our black lab, Cami.  It was a breath of fresh air to get away from the hustle-bustle of city life and settle down in our Floridian style cottage near the beach.

Although we still love visiting the city, there is definitely something to be said about the coziness of living in a cottage.  The stress you once felt of the constant grind melts away and you find yourself slowing down to appreciate more around you, as well as, the comfort of your own home.  It’s kind of like getting a big warm welcoming hug when you walk in the door.

Now that I wasn’t driving an hour to work and an hour back 5 days a week, I had all this extra free time which allowed me to explore my passions for home decor, entertaining, recipes, beauty, fashion, and everyday life.

I soon began to notice my friends and family complimenting me on my new hobbies and asking me why don’t I start my own business, but the truth was I didn’t have the means to start my own company and I couldn’t just settle on pursuing one passion knowing that I may get bored and then I would probably wind up resenting it.  Then it dawned on me, I could start a blog and share all the things that I am passionate about in one place, but what would I call it?  This was a tough decision for me because I wanted to create a name for the blog that would truly sum up my lifestyle and I only had one shot to get it right.

I then started thinking about how much our lives have changed for the better since we moved here and if it wasn’t for our move, I may have never had the time to pursue my passions and find out what really makes me happy.  It was at that very moment that I realized I needed to pay homage to the reason for it all.  The word crossed my mind and soon after Cottage-Bound was born.

Cottage-Bound is a Life + Style blog dedicated to creating comfort, beauty, and meaning in life’s everyday moments.  Preserving those moments in ways of content and photography to share with all of you.

Hope you enjoy reading and thank you so much for stopping by!

  • Cold days like these make me want to cozy up with a warm blanket and look through sunny photos of past vacations while day dreaming up our next adventure together.
Last year, my husband and I visited St. John and The British Virgin Islands and we had such an amazing time that I decided to surprise him by capturing our favorite vacation moments with a custom photo book.
Luckily, @google photos just launched a new photo book feature so I decided to try it out and I couldn’t believe how easy it was to create. It literally took minutes to put it together!
If you have an anniversary, birthday, or “just because” dates coming up I would definitely recommend adding your own personal touch with one of these keepsakes!

  • Finally got out and about after being sick for the last few days and found the most delicious tile pattern on the way to my car. This was someone’s walkway leading up to their home (don’t mind if I do). So glad no one was there 🤫 but I had to share because it was the perfect reminder that beauty can be found in the most unexpected places. I hope your day was filled with beauty loves! ✨

P.S. You can now shop my looks over @liketoknow.it 🤗 Simply screen shot the photo and follow me in the #liketoknowit app!
  • Really looking forward to the weekend and a little sunshine because it’s been raining here non-stop! ☔️ I’ve def gotten my money’s worth out of my @hunterboots this week, but now I’m ready for a change 👢
  • Does anyone feel weird when the new year starts mid week? It’s kind of like when you’re at the crossing between 2 states with one foot on both sides.... I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m working on moving forward but I’m also having to look back on things in order to get there. Does this make sense? #newyearnewbeginnings #makeitcount #wrapitup
  • Welcoming 2019 with open arms! Last night Jamie (my husband) and I spent a nice quiet evening at home. I made Hoppin John, Collard Greens, Corn Bread, and Pork Chops. We ended the night watching the ball drop from bed and slept in for the first time since I can’t remember when. It was perfect! Just exactly what we needed to rejuvenate ourselves for the 1st day of the year. Today we took down all the Christmas decor and talked about some things we’d like to do/change in our home this year with a fresh new perspective. Lots of ideas sparking over here! Looking forward to new beginnings and new projects! Hope y’all had an amazing New Year’s!

  • Cheers to the weekend! 🥂Currently contemplating whether I should take down our Christmas decor or leave it up til New Year’s Day. What are your thoughts on this? I need some advice 🙃
