Sometimes I can feel a bit guilty when it comes to the holidays and what I mean by guilty is that we are all spending money like crazy and probably not even putting forth much thought or effort into what we are buying. Meanwhile, there are so many people in this world that are in need and would be happy to even have the money to buy 1 present so that they could feed their family or pay their bills. I know that I sound like a Mom when I say this but please hear me out.
This year we got hit really hard by a terrible hurricane and seeing the devastation it caused really opened my eyes to what is important, what is realistic, and also what is needed.
Although Jamie and I are not giving gifts this year (we used our entire Christmas fund to donate toys to the disaster relief victims), I wanted to make an effort to create some gift guides that are useful with meaning.
This last gift guide is all about fashionable brands that give back to charitable organizations so you can feel good about buying and giving this holiday season.
Ok now that you’ve got the goods, let’s talk about the brands!
Treasure and Bond is a Nordstrom-exclusive brand have partnered with WE providing support to organizations that empower young people with a percentage of each purchase of their wide range of easy-to-wear wardrobe staples and goods.
DIFF Eyewear has a mission to “use fashion as a force for good”. They have provided over 1,000,000 pairs of reading glasses to individuals in need all around the world. DIFF’s promise if to donate a pair of reading glasses for every pair of sunglasses purchased. They have partnered with Restoring Vision to ensure that this promise is kept.
ABLE is a lifestyle brand that focuses on ending generational poverty by providing economic opportunity for women. By purchasing their leather goods, handmade jewelry, denim, clothing, and footwear, you will be helping support their cause and provide a safe environment and jobs for the women at their work sites in Ethiopia, Mexico, Peru, and Nashville, TN.
I chose these pieces as I saw them to be very versatile and easy to incorporate into your everyday wardrobe or someone else’s for that matter (I guess this IS a gift guide after all). I chose these labels because I believe that everyone is capable of making a difference in the world. One way or another it feels good to know that we are all a part of something grander than ourselves and that we are helping impact others in a positive way. I hope you enjoyed this gift guide and if you need any others, please let me know in the comments below!
