GUEST ROOM + OFFICE SPACE REVEAL PART 1

guest bedroom makeover

I’m so excited to finally share our guest bedroom/office space reveal with you guys!  This project started at the beginning of summer and slowly started to unravel after many trial and errors, not to mention, personal journeys and losses but I won’t get into that now.  The important thing is that we did it, it’s complete and I can’t wait to divvy out all the details!

GUEST ROOM + OFFICE SPACE STYLE BOARD

THE INSPIRATION

When designing this space, I had three things in mind, my office, our guests, and a tranquil surrounding that would blend them together.  I chose a neutral palette of whites, creams, and natural woods with a hint of black iron.

TEXTURE MAKES PERFECT

I know that these colors may seem quite boring at first, but when they are combined in layers of textured textiles, they suddenly become pleasantly attractive. Speaking of layers, this sheepskin runner looks great on top of another rug or on a bed.

The textures used in this design were a mix of faux fur, sheepskin, macrame, tufted knits, woven wool, and crisp cotton.

plants and accessories

A TOUCH OF GREENERY

By adding plants to the room, I am not only adding a pop of greenery but I am also adding a literal breath of fresh air for both me and my guests as they filter out toxins and create clean oxygen.  Another plus to this corner is the floor cushions that double as a side table when not in use.

CREATING THAT SPARK

In order to make this space truly shine, I added a few gold brass details like a luminous pendant light by the desk and a pretty hanging mobile of stars and moons on one of the macrame planters.

HANG IN THERE

I’ve always wanted a hanging chair however, I found that they can be quite costly.  It must have been pure dumb luck when I stumbled upon this one because the price was surprisingly affordable which was all I needed to jump on the bandwagon. While I’m still working out the kinks on getting it hung from the ceiling, I’ve covered the base with floor cushions for additional lounging when needed.

SHOP THE POST

Phew! Ok, I realize that this post is getting to be extra-long, so I’ve decided to make it a two-part series.  Join me in the next post GUEST POST + OFFICE SPACE REVEAL PART 2 to read more about how I was able to make this space functional for both my office and my guests!

Please feel free to leave a comment below!  I love hearing from you guys and as always thanks for reading!

Cheers- Ashley Nicole
