When I was little, my grandparents used to make homemade ice cream in the summertime which is probably where my love for ice cream started. I would sit and watch in amazement as they added the rock salt to the churn and it seemed like it was quite the process! I thought to myself that when I got to be an adult I would get an ice cream maker and make my own ice cream just like they did. Little did I know that you don’t actually need an ice cream maker just a few ingredients and a mixer. This recipe is super easy and can be adjusted to make just about any ice cream flavor you can imagine but today I’m gonna start with the basics. This creamy homemade vanilla bean ice cream recipe will have you whipping up a sundae in no time!

- 1 CAN OF CONDENSED MILK
- 2 CUPS OF HEAVY WHIPPING CREAM
- 1 TABLESPOON OF VANILLA EXTRACT
- 1-2 VANILLA BEAN PODS
- ADD HEAVY CREAM TO A STAND MIXER WITH A PADDLE ATTACHMENT AND MIX ON MEDIUM UNTIL IT STARTS TO FORM PEAKS AND THICKEN. WHISK CONDENSED MILK AND VANILLA EXTRACT TOGETHER. CUT VANILLA PODS IN HALF AND SCRAPE OUT THE SEEDS. ADD SEEDS TO THE VANILLA AND CONDENSED MILK. GENTLY FOLD IN HEAVY CREAM AND ADD TO A LOAF PAN. COVER WITH PLASTIC WRAP AND CHILL IN FREEZER FOR 6 HOURS.
