Recently Jamie and I had decided that it was time to get a new fan for our living room. The one we had was a bit dated and just wasn’t working very well. As you know we live in Florida and we need all the breeze we can get during these hot summer days! Also, I noticed that every time I cooked bacon or anything that had to be cooked in a skillet, the house would smoke up causing the smoke alarms to go off. To avoid this we would turn on the fan and open the back door, but the fan would barely move the smoke out of the living room and it would take forever for it to clear out. That being said, it was definitely time for an update!
We looked at several different styles of fans out there and finally found one that would fit our home decor best. The fan we chose is Casa Delta from Lamps Plus in an oil rubbed bronze which looks more like black wrought iron. The blades are my favorite part, they span to 66″ and they are made of real wood. They kind of look like a boat propeller. Another cool feature that had us excited was the light feature with LED. No more changing out light bulbs! This was a huge plus because it’s so annoying when you have to unscrew the light dome, replace the burnt out light bulbs, and then put the dome back on while trying to keep your balance on a ladder and not getting dust everywhere (side note: I’m really bad about dusting the fan).
When our shipment arrived we planned a good day when we were both off to install it. Well mostly Jamie installed it and I just handed him screws, haha! Putting it together wasn’t very challenging either. The hardest part was getting all the wires into the base but other than that I’d say it was pretty easy and the directions were very detailed to guide us through the process.
It was amazing to see how such a small detail like a fan could transform a room. I would never have thought about fan shopping when it comes to home decor and to be quite honest before I thought fans were pretty boring but now I’m singing a different tune.

It’s so much fun to do little projects like these around the house and I find it brings Jamie and I closer together and builds teamwork in the process. Now I’ve got the fever and I’m wanting to work on all of our spaces! Hope you have a great weekend!
Do you have any small projects/updates you are currently working on in your home? I’d love to hear all about them in the comments!
