DIY THRIFT CHALLENGE
This week I decided to get a little thrifty and challenge myself with a DIY project.
The idea came to me after I had been looking at some ceramic and terra-cotta pottery online and I really wanted to incorporate some handmade items into the project decor.
There was just one problem… cash flow. The items I had been eyeing were rather pricey and a bit out of our budget so I decided to take matters into my own hands.
SHOP DIY SUPPLIES
As you can see above, I managed to find some very funky clay pots at our local thrift stores in all sorts of shapes and sizes.
After a few coats of paint, these eye sores quickly became little works of art.
The spray paint I used was by Rust-Oleum and the colors were burlap and white. The burlap was a matte paint. The white however was not, so I purchased a clear matte spray paint as well to top it off.
Sustainability is something that I’ve been trying to incorporate into my life recently. One way to do that is by re-purposing older pieces as opposed to buying mass-produced products. You know what they say, one mans trash is another man’s treasure!
I was so pleased to see how well these turned out with a little creative TLC and I was able to get the look I wanted without breaking the bank.
